## Who she is

Dr. Alaa Murabit is a physician and founder working on faith, capital,
and the architecture of peace. She founded Voice of Libyan Women at 21
during the 2011 Libyan revolution, building a women-led peace movement
across 35+ cities; its Noor Campaign, which advanced women's rights
through the religious language communities already trusted, is
replicated internationally. That insight — that faith is
infrastructure, not obstacle — runs through all of her work: she
established faith-aligned capital as an instrument of global health
and development finance.

She founded Every Pregnancy (formerly For Mama), the first
zakat-certified Muslim philanthropic collaborative for maternal and
newborn health, which mobilized $130M+ across three Ramadans from
190,000+ donors and 50+ partner organizations. She directed it for its
first two years, then appointed Isra Chaker as CEO in early 2025.

She originated The Beginnings Fund, a $600M+ collaborative fund for
maternal and newborn survival built to reach 34 million mothers and
babies, and secured its initial $300M anchor funding. She directed a
$1B+ portfolio at the Gates Foundation across 21 strategies. At
500 Global she built the Sustainable Growth practice, including a
first-of-its-kind global health financing partnership between Gavi,
the GCC and 500 Global. Her newest venture is RAIS, building financial,
institutional and AI infrastructure so countries can finance resilience
before crises.

She is a UN SDG Advocate appointed by two successive UN
Secretaries-General, a TIME100 honoree, recipient of the Canadian
Meritorious Service Cross, and a TED speaker with 9M+ views. Her work
has reached 193 countries and shaped 4 UN Security Council processes;
she has mobilized or advised $40B+ in capital.
